I am taking this opportunity to write about passion, no not that kind, the passion you have for an activity or sport. Passion is what drives each of us to get up at 5:30 AM and get out the door for a run or to put on the cycling shoes after a long day at work and knock out a 30 mile ride before supper. Passion is what drives you to hike over that next hill on the trail to see what’s on the other side.
Passion, an easy word to say but sometimes hard to explain to others that have never found their own passion. Why is it some seem to find what they are passionate about and others never do? Is it due to internal, personal drive? or life experiences? or just obligations and time restraints? What ever the reason, you can overcome these and find your own passion if you have not. You have to explore new activities, new places and allow yourself to enjoy what you are doing. If you do this, you too will find an activity or sport that you are passionate about. Once you find it, you will then begin to see a change in your personal attitude toward this activity….it will no longer be “what” you do but will become “who” you are. See the difference, it no longer is something you feel you have to do but something that you want to do.
So, start exploring new activities today. Go out for a jog, hike a trail to a water fall, dust off that old bike and see where the road leads you and along the way enjoy the sights, smells and all that your surroundings offer you. Be proud of your personal accomplishment and build on this each time you enjoy your new activity and maybe along the way that passion will begin to stir inside of you and you can take hold of it and nurture it into “who” you are.
